Empathy; The gift of emotional reactivity. Empaths are able to feel and affect the emotions of people around them, making them incredibly valuable people to have around you. Despite their initial first impression, Empaths can usually manipulate people much better than they'd ever let on.

Power vs Control
A powerful Empath can incite war, create calamity and chaos, force paranoia onto their victims, and worse. However, at the same turn of the leaf, a powerful Empath can create peace, serenity, and courage in all of those around them. Empaths are considered 'Beacons' - they make exceptional leaders, as they are capable of snagging the hearts of those they affect and taking them on a miraculous emotional journey. The Power aspect is wide and differentiating, as empathy is far more dependant on the target than the user. Power here is often considered 'range' - the more powerful an empath, the more hearts they touch at any time.

Lack of control breeds all of those same things in the user, instead. An empath with little control will find themselves constantly being tugged in all directions - the stronger an empath, the more overwhelmingly they feel emotions and from more people. Control allows them to harness their gifts and makes hearts around them as malleable as fine gold, whereas a control-less Empath will oft find themselves caught in a whirlwind of love, hate, joy, sorrow, confusion, certainty... with no rocks to cling to for hope.
