Her eyes opened slowly as she left the comfort and security of her sub - conscious where she was in control and re - entered reality where the cruel hand of fate ruled and seemed to want to cause nothing but pain and strife. The dream she had just awoken from was the same as always when she was in this place; a dream that revealed the longings of her very soul.
'Three times now.' she thought staring up at the high ceiling above her, 'Hope Felicity didn't worry too much'
As the joy she had felt moments before as she dreamt ebbed away, the young, dark – haired girl sat up cross legged on the soft bed where she lay and surveyed the familiar room around her. The walls of the room were white washed completely devoid of colour. The only furniture in the room was the bed on which she sat and a small couch off to the other side of the room that faced a stand on which stood a flat screen television and a DVD Player with stacks of various DVDs standing beside it. Other than that the large room was bare unless you counted the medical equipment. Heart monitor, CT machine, Brain Wave monitor, Respirator, IV stands and a desk laden with bandages and syringes of different sizes occupied the space next to her bed. A wooden door was set into the wall adjacent to where she sat and led into a small bathroom.
Maia sighed. She really did hate the seclusion and isolation but she knew it was necessary for both her well – being and the well – being of those around her so she didn't complain; after all it was her own doing that had once again brought her to the place. Shaking back the sleeve of the plain blue pyjamas that had been provided for her; she looked at the silver and gold wrist watch that adorned her wrist to check the time and drew small comfort. Her time here was almost up. She had just been about to get up and head to the bathroom when she heard the elaborate, electromagnetic lock on the almost invisible white door facing her from the other side of the room click open. She immediately looked over as a tall, young man in a lab coat entered the room, holding a clipboard on which he was reading something.
