Possessing great control, Serena has been using her teleporting abilities in full force since her young years and thus they have well developed. Serena finds it easy to remember locations; in fact, she possesses a photographic memory of every place she visits or even just observes in maps and pictures. In relatively close areas, she can get her location spot down so exact that she could teleport herself onto a 2-inch wide beam without falling off. She is very relaxed with her power when it comes to familiar places and uses her power frequently in everyday life. Inside the body, when Serena teleports, the brain releases chemicals and hormones. Before teleporting, Serena feels a rush of adrenaline run through her body; sometimes minor, sometimes extreme, depending on where she is going. In familiar areas, her body has grown used to the exact type of hormone emitted, so she hardly reacts or feels different. However, before going to somewhere completely unfamiliar or far away, she holds a different reaction. The result, in some situations, can be a panic attack. In some instances, she will find it difficult to breathe, get dizzy, and even pass out.
But the worst affects are done psychologically. The chemicals and hormones can cause her to enter a state of extreme fear and distress. If forced to teleport into an unknown far off location, it would be probable that Serena could break down emotionally and even in extreme situations, hallucinate, with several tears coming from her behalf. Affects can be lessened and even be ride of if Serena prepares from the journey before hand, or visits the place prior. In fact, Serena recently made a very successful accomplishment. After studying a picture for two days, she teleported to Times Square without any dizziness or any other side affects. The result was a happy squeal and a day spent in New York. Now, familiar with the feeling she gets when going to New York, she can teleport to Times Square again without further problems.
power history;;
On April 4, 2004, Nicole Elwood gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby. The child was a joy, and brought happiness to her parents’ eyes. Nothing seemed out of place, and the child was quick to feed and sleep. After two days at the Hospital, the doctor permitted the baby to go home with its parents. Nicole was in wonder of how it felt to be a mother, and kept a watchful eye over the child. Nothing out of the ordinary was spotted. And this is how things remained. With the exception of a few instances, one where Nicole found Serena making a mess of toothpaste in the bathroom when she was sure she put her downstairs in her playpen; there was really nothing odd about the child.
I suppose Serena always knew about her power, but from the beginning the child was deeply convicted that it was something wrong; call it, instinct. Perhaps this thought came from the fact that certainly her mother wouldn’t approve, and her mother’s rule was law. So young Serena’s power was not something to be bothered with or exposed to anyone. It was to be locked away in Serena’s memory. Fortunately for little Serena, she had miraculous control over her power, and in the beginning years of her life she did not use it.
While her parents were separated, still there was an absence of use of power. As the toddler turned to child, the memory of such trait was almost forgotten. Yet, when as a five year old, she was forced to move with her mother to California, a desire was kindled. The sad little girl, with intent to visit daddy, began experimenting. However, she was once almost caught practicing once by her mother, and since the little girl was afraid of what her mom would do, it frightened her enough to stop. So, yet again, the usage of the power was absent, but this time, there would linger a memory. As the years passed, things began to get worse in her family life. She desperately began wanting an escape; to run away from all the conflict. With her mom and step dad’s constant fighting (which was getting worse) she felt that she had no place to go for safety but her bedroom; and she still didn’t feel entirely safe in there. Then there was the prospect of her mother taking her anger out on her. Finally, one late evening, nine-year old Serena had had enough. It was eight o’clock and she still hadn’t eaten dinner (which was usually served around six). She was hungry, but scared to leave the safety of her room because her mom and step-dad were fighting in the kitchen. So, she climbed out her window, and ran. She spent the rest of the evening, lying on the beach, staring at the ocean.
She’d had to grow up very quickly of late, and was tired of her home life. She wanted to rebel somehow; to escape. And she remembered how once she could make herself vanish to another place. But at this point, she doubted its accurateness. She had only been a little girl…she could have easily been pretending and fooled herself into thinking it was real. But Serena remembered the distinct feeling she had felt when she left a place…like standing on the edge of a cliff ready to jump off, but knowing you would be okay. So…the nine year old, after reflecting on the beach if she was crazy or not, decided just to try it, and ended up teleported thirty feet away.
She was returned home by the police five hours later, completely drenched. They told her parents that coastguard had spotted something small far out in the ocean, and had found her. The girl had nearly drowned. They wanted answers. Serena was severely disciplined that night, but that was beginning of a new era for her. After that, she had a secret. She had somewhere to go to vent her frustrations; just, an escape. She could run, and hide, as much as she wanted, without ever really having to face to consequences. For, in the blink of an eye, she was back to the real world.
As she got older, Serena progressed in her usage of her power; but secretly, of course. That got a little harder, as she became very involved socially. But non-the-less, she became very good at doing what she did. If she was sure no one was watching, she could teleport herself just outside the school grounds or close to a friend’s home. It almost became second nature. Her mother took up a very time consuming job after her second divorce, so that left Serena with more time to be free to teleport herself around the house. But the era of good feelings had to end sometime. When Serena was fifteen, her mother started dating a man she met from work, Robert. He also had a son name Landon who was a year older than her and went to her school. They got along well enough, but their parents were getting closer and closer. When Landon’s dad left his oh-so important planner at Serena’s large house, Landon got handed down the chore to retrieve it. He knocked on the door, and when he found that no one was home, entered; just in time to witness Serena teleporting in.
That moment changed everything. She insisted that he was crazy, but Landon would not forget what he saw. He wanted an explanation, Serena wouldn’t give him one. So, after that he personally took it upon himself to discover what the Elwoods really were up to….was it just Serena or also her mother as well? Were they even human? He was content on just watching and snooping around for clues every time he came over to their house, but that ended when Robert and Nicole announced that they were getting married. That’s when Landon freaked. Later that night, he and Robert over fought over the issue. Landon bluntly told him that he shouldn’t marry into that family…something was wrong. After getting pressed, Landon finally admitted that something particularly was wrong with Serena. The news passed from Robert to Nicole, and before she knew it, Serena was getting clamped down on. Nicole firmly demanded to know what Landon was talking about, but Serena insisted she had no idea. That didn’t help Nicole’s attitude. The next four days of Serena’s life were miserable. Nicole was determined to find out what Landon had meant, and even went as far as calling up some of Serena’s friends to get clues. Nothing. She could find out nothing, so she just made discipline tactics even stricter. Finally, Serena caved in. She openly confessed her power to her mother, teleporting from one place to another right in front of her eyes. She then started crying. And for what seemed like the first time in years, Nicole cried too.
Nicole wasn’t like most parents under the situation. The last thing she wanted to do was get help from an outside source. Serena’s powers were something Nicole viewed as out of control, and Nicole had to have control in every situation. Nicole wanted Serena to be firmly monitored. She wasn’t allowed to visit anyone without permission. Serena felt like there was a rope tied around her neck. Finally, Serena came clean about her power to Landon with a promise he wouldn’t tell his dad. The two formed a brother/sister bound very quickly, and Landon found himself getting more and more frustrated with Nicole. He finally started doing research himself on her “power” and discovered that there were other cases out there. And finally, he sat down with Ms. Elwood and presented his case. Serena didn’t belong in Northern California. It was too dangerous. She couldn’t be controlled or taken care of properly. She belonged at a place called Sententia Academy, located within the United States. Knowing that Nicole wanted Serena watched carefully, he made it sound more like it was a correction facility, with a tight yet caring staff that would monitor Serena’s behavior closely. Nicole refused and sent Landon home, but later that night pondered the information that he had presented her.
The next day Nicole informed Serena that she would be going to Sententia Academy. Serena at the time feared what it would mean…since the idea was coming from her mother…but later Landon explained things to her. She didn’t want to leave her friends behind, but under the circumstances, it was the best option. She would be free to be herself. It sounded quite enjoyable…actually!

hair color;; Blonde
assets;; Her beautiful smile and thick, soft hair.
flaw;; Her nose can be seen as too long.
distinguishing mark;; A mole on her cheek.
Usually wearing a wide smile or a welcoming expression, Serena stands at a solid 5’8, although sometimes wearing heels that boost her height into greater direction. Generally happy with her self-image, Serena does not struggle much with physical insecurities and it radiantly shows. Together, all her attributes form a portrait of a girl who is happy, lively, and free to be herself. Possessing beautiful, radiant hair, Serena’s long blonde hair falls softly well below her shoulders and sometimes, due to its length, she pulls it up. However, she has always had a preference to keep it down and usually does so. Serena also has an expensive taste in make up, and can be seen applying it in the morning. She loves to collaborate colors together to form unique, flattering eye-shadow colors, as long as it does not take up to much time in her morning.
Although not as prone to “fashion etiquette” as some girls are, Serena loves clothing that is flattering and cute. She may not necessarily love to shop 24/7, but she loves the clothes that come from it. She has a preppy style, loving skirts and having a faddish with jackets and coats. No article of clothing pleases her more than a cute coat. Although she likes striking clothing, she’s not into “attention grabbing” articles of clothing. Although she shops from high-class designers, she sometimes finds their clothing ridiculous and embarrassing. Serena likes cute, classy clothing that gives off a feminine touch, and it is seen in her appearance. Serena has a fairly quick metabolism, and as such, she is not overweight nor is she too skinny.
Serena has that kind of look that makes you want to feel better about yourself. At first, you don’t understand what you’re thinking. You should be jealous of her, if anything. Yet, something about her makes you feel more motivated to love yourself. Serena may not be perfect, but her inward self-confidence shines through, and you realize the same action could do wonders for you. When she teleports into a room, her inward happiness is instantly connects with the energy of the room. She has a cute laugh that flatters her already beautiful smile, and hazel eyes that light up when she’s happy. Overall, she’s a welcoming, beautiful girl.Cute, Friendly, and Fun

From a stranger’s point of view, Serena would most likely be described as cute, friendly, and fun. Serena is very much a people person and likes social interaction, usually being one to laugh and have a good time. She’s confident and speaks up in class, and takes the intuitive to make new friends. She’s very welcoming to others and loves making new friends. She’s usually seen laughing or smiling, and brings a lot of fun wherever she goes. Her fun-loving tendencies and confident ways usually result in popularity for her, as she not easily forgettable. She’s known for how fun she can be and making people laugh. She’s generally really positive and loves social interactions.
Serena also can also be a really caring person, sensitive to the needs of others. Even though she’s viewed as spontaneous and fun, Serena will listen to her friends’ long problems and be there for them. Because of her interactions with her mom, she’s developed into a pleaser with those important to her. She’s not one with everyone, mind you, just those she’s really close to. She goes out of her way to make her close friends happy, particularly her boyfriend. It makes her happy to see him happy. She also has a moral center. In the back of her mind, she’s always trying to do what’s right, even if her morals sometimes get shaken up. There’s always a right choice and a wrong choice for everything, and Serena feels obliged to help people. As far as goals go, Serena doesn’t exactly know what to do when she graduates. Since she has a photographic memory, some people have suggested that she be a detective or something along those lines. Others have said that she should be an interior designer, which Serena doesn’t think is that bad of an idea since she really likes decorating rooms. However, although she likes the idea, she’s not entirely passionate about the career. Honestly, she sees herself four years from now working abroad in a third world country for some charity organization. She’s not sure of the specifics, but she wants to do something more along those lines. She wants to travel (which, of course, is probably stemmed from her power) and bluntly…help people. But helping charity organizations doesn’t pay the rent and isn’t something one can major in.
Yet, of course, despite her strengths, she has weaknesses. One being, her tendencies to hide. She can’t face a problem. Ever since her powers developed she’s been running away from her problems. It terrifies her to be forced into something, especially bad consequences for her actions and conflict. When the going gets rough for her…Serena leaves. She doesn’t want to get hurt. That’s always been her solution to every problem, run away. Just like her power, when she literally disappears when she doesn’t want to be there, the same is so in her personal life. It’s a deep psychological problem that has been brewing in the back of her head since her early childhood. She’s always running, never staying to face the problem. In fact, several girls would tell you back from her old high school that they were once great friends with her, yet one day, Serena just stopped being friends with them for some unknown reason and they never knew what happened. That’s what Serena does. When someone hurts her, she drops them. Even though inside it hurts, she makes it look like she is fine and moves on to someone else. However, it really complicates things when she actually starts to really, really care about someone. Then the whole gets turned into a mess if something goes wrong.
Serena is not a leader, but she is definitely not a follower, either. She admires decisiveness in people, and is drawn to people who know what they want. However, she hates it when people try to control her or force her into something. She wants to be free to do whatever she wants, when she wants. She wants freedom to be herself. She also loves her power. The thought of loosing it terrifies her. One of her dreams is to teleport to the Great Wall of China, and she’s getting close. She teleports very often in a day: using it in both in minor and major circumstances. She’s never late. Ever. That fact sometimes makes her more prone to be irritated when others are late, but she has to learn to deal with things like that. She’s also a very religious person. It started off as a rebellion against her mother, as her mom loathes religion, Christianity, and the ideology of destiny in general, but eventually it turned into something sincere. That is one of the few things that really upsets Serena; when people make fun of her beliefs. It also upsets her when people of other faiths such as Muslims are ridiculed. Serena has a complicated relationship with her mother. She has always felt controlled by her and abused by her, and subconsciously resents her. While Nicole spent Serena’s whole life trying to protect her from the rest of the world, Serena found it overbearing and unfair. Serena hated the unstable environment she grew up in, and how insensitive her mother was to her feelings. She was always afraid of making her mom mad. Tragically, Nicole loves her daughter with all of her heart and would do anything to protect her. Serena knows this…but at the same time, finds it hard to forgive someone who has hurt her so much over the years. Yet now, with Serena at the academy, the problem remains unsolved.
While others around her are sometimes frustrated to be at the academy, Serena has learned to be very grateful for it. She sees it as a blessing. Now, for the first time, she can use her power as much as she wants without having to worry about people seeing it. She’s also not on “lock down” like she was at home and is free to make as many friends as she wants. Serena has always found an escape in social interactions. She has a positive attitude about it. This makes her even more prone to reach out to others. Confident, fun, and with a love of laughter that leads to the best of parties and memorable experiences, Serena is on the higher end of the popularity level. With her inward happiness radiated, she draws attention of those around her and makes eyes turn when she enters a room. Her cute style and happy presence attracts friendships and her genuine interest in other furthers it more. All and all, Serena is happy with herself and her state of being. She lives in the now and hopes for the best.

To understand Serena fully, you’ll need to understand where she comes from. It all began with the life Serena’s mother, Nicole Claremont. Being raised in the Upper East side of New York, Nicole was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. But that did not mean life was easy for her, and in fact, it was quite the contrary. Nicole was born to two wealthy parents, neither of which very affectionate, and three older brothers. It was discovered when Nicole was just a toddler that her mother had breast cancer, just after the birth of another child, Nicole’s brother, Will. On top of that, her parents separated. And then, to make matters worse, Nicole’s mother was deemed incapable of taking care of her children as her breast cancer was demanding treatments; and she was often being rushed to the hospital to be treated for heath issues revolving around her secret case of bulimia. Despite the fact that of course Nicole’s mother had hired nannies, her constant absence was enough for her father’s attorneys to argue and Nicole and her brothers were given to her father.
Her father, a powerful businessman of New York, quickly moved on from his wife and finalized a divorce. He then took no time to move onto other girls. Her father had a common habit of marrying strong, driven women, who just happened to be a nightmare behind closed doors. Eventually, a divorce or annulment followed. Nicole’s childhood was full of the repeating cycle of wicked step mothers. It seemed almost too cliché to be true. It also seemed to make things extremely worse since Nicole was the only girl, and she was particularly bullied on. Nicole had no control of her life, and constantly was being told what to do. She was often scrutinized by her stepmothers and their family. She was never good enough. With her amount of money it could have been expected for Nicole to live a comfortable lifestyle, but she was stuck getting the short end of things just because her stepmothers saw it fit to do so. Of course, some women were better than others; one wife neglected her and wanted nothing to do with her (which was a blessing in itself). But Nicole never became a victim, no, not in her heart. There was a fighting spirit within her, only waiting for relief. While her stepmothers and stepsiblings treated her like dirt, she kept a firm resolve to defy them in heart. This strength came into play as she looked out for her younger brother, Will. All they had was each other, and Nicole always looked out for him.
The hardships of Nicole’s childhood had a lasting effect on her. It made her less able to trust people; she particularly resented beautiful women. It hardened her heart. But most importantly, it made her extremely possessive; and even so, controlling. The lack of control she had in her childhood made her desperate for it. She resented religion and the ideology of God in general. She saw that relief didn’t come to those who hoped or believed, it came to those who worked for it, regardless if they were “good” or “evil.” But she also learned how to be a good care-giver, how to sacrifice everything for the one you care about. Despite her resentment and bitterness, Nicole grew to be a beautiful young woman. She wasn’t born with the best academic ability, but she had amazing drive and determination which helped her press forward. Once she did enter the social world, with her hard yet striking face, intense blue eyes and beautiful blonde hair, it wasn’t long before she was attracting men. But most often her encounters and attempts were fatal; no one had the stomach to handle her, or she found something about them which annoyed her. She wasn’t the overly sensitive type; she liked facts and people who listened to her. When she was twenty three, she found someone who could handle her and visa versa, Ben Elwood. He wasn’t as wealthy as she was, but was a developing force in real estate. He was smart, factual, and reserved. He didn’t ramble, and he listened to her. The worked well together. Ben traveled a lot, some of his business locations in Missouri, California, and Texas. But finally, they were married, and Nicole moved in with him in his comfortable apartment in Rhode Island.
Serena Joy Elwood was born a year after their marriage on December 4, 2003. It was an odd sensation for Nicole. Never had she ever cared so much for a person. It was unbelievable; the depth of love and concern for her daughter. From the moment she laid eyes on her baby, she wanted to hold her close, and to protect her from all others. She never wanted anything bad to happen to her. She just wanted her daughter to be safe. Ben wanted to name her Joy, since she was the joy of their lives. Nicole thought that was reasonable enough, but not as a first name. She picked out the name Serena, and, of course, that is what they called her.
Serena’s first years of her life were content; not particularly happy, but content. Since Ben was not at home very much, so Serena spent her first years primarily with her mother. At first, Nicole had a nanny, but Nicole being the person she was found the women incompetent. She went through three other nannies and they all had the same verdict. No one was ever good enough for Serena. After two years working on the go, Ben finally got a promotion that allowed him to stay in Rhode Island. That’s when the problems started. It seemed like Ben could never do anything right when he was around Nicole. He began to dread coming home from work, because he knew she would just scrutinize him, and when he didn’t come home, she was even worse. He behaved wrong; he acted wrong; he didn’t give their daughter enough attention; it never ended. Nicole, on the other hand, thought that she was faced with a husband who couldn’t care less about her personal welfare and that of her daughter. She thought that he needed a severe attitude adjustment. His whole, “laid back” front was simply annoying because he refused to confront any problems they were having in their marriage. Finally, Ben turned to the bottle. He started going to bars, and staying out as late as three in the morning. Nicole became paranoid, consistently called him to find out where he was, and even suspected he was cheating on her. She finally decided to leave him; she could not have an incompetent husband. And she decided that she needed to get a job, a good one, as she would be providing for her daughter. A terrific public speaker and a powerful persona, she got a job working for a corporation with a large salary. One the weekends that Serena spent visiting her dad, Nicole spent hours slaving away for her new work force. Nicole loved her career.
Quickly after being hired on, she met Sean Douglass, a representative from another corporation in California who did business with Nicole’s own corporation. They two worked together often as correspondents for their respective corporations. Sean and Nicole instantly had chemistry. He was wealthy, charismatic, had a reputation, and somehow brought out a light side from Nicole. For the next two years, they danced around each other, eventually falling to an on and off romance. Their hot and cold romance played out like a dramatic television storyline. When they were good together, they were really good, and when they were bad, they were really bad. Eventually, when neither of them could take it anymore, Sean declared his love and proposed. She accepted…And begged to be transferred to California, and her company obliged.
Serena was five at the time. News of leaving her dad behind and only getting to him during the summer was not well received. It was emotionally hard on her. But Nicole didn’t do emotions well. And the little Serena didn’t want to make her mother angry. For Nicole loved her daughter immensely, but was a very strong willed parent. So, they moved to California, and Serena spent her childhood living on excess of cash. Most would say that she was spoiled. She probably was.
Serena learned never to ask too many questions or to make her mom mad. Nicole had an amazingly strong love for her daughter, but her bitterness and fire still lingered. Serena also learned never to complain, because one complaint about what was going on in school or this or that…and Nicole would be outraged. If Serena were to complain that a girl in her class was rude, her mother would call up the girl’s mom and give her a piece of her mind. If Serena complained about her teacher, Nicole would instantly call the school up and demand she be transferred into a different class. If she said something about getting hurt at recess while playing soccer, Nicole’s mother could call up the school and sure enough soccer at recess would be banned. For, true enough, Nicole was an amazing persuader. She was also easily angered when it came to her daughter. So Serena kept her opinions to herself.
When both Sean and Nicole were busy with work, everything was fine in the family. Their time was preoccupied by something so demanding and tiring, that both Sean and Nicole loved each other ever more. However, when business wasn’t so preoccupying, the problems started. Fighting. Cheating. Revenge. The on and off couple didn’t change, even when they were married. Well, perhaps they did…for the worse. As they years progressed, the problems got worse. Their fights got longer and more explosive. They got dangerous. Yet, still, even after all the horrible things Nicole and Sean did to each other, they couldn’t just call it off permanently. They always ended up coming back to each other. They were each other’s addiction. But that didn’t make matters at home better. Serena felt that she had no control over what was going on around her. Serena hated seeing her parents fighting but she felt like it was too out of control and she couldn’t do anything about it. Then came the incident that forever changed her life when she finally used her power again and made the conscious decision to do so for the rest of her life.
There was something about teleporting that just relieved Serena. It was an escape. There was just comfort in knowing that she could get out of every situation if she ever needed to. She would never have to stay somewhere she didn’t want to be. And frankly it was just…fun. Lying in bed, and then teleporting herself back and forth between her bedroom and the beach just made her giggle. As she began to live her secret life as a teleporter, her social career launched off. The nine year old quickly made lots of friends as she allowed herself to branch out to others. She became more talkative. She became happier. Others viewed her as fun and lively. She found that she could be whoever she wanted to be with her peers. She had control over something! Despite the problems at home, Serena was able to use her teleporting as an outlet. She shared her secret with no one.
Sean and Nicole separated when Serena was ten, then got back together, separated again, and finally divorced around the time Serena was almost twelve. Nicole and Serena got to keep the house, but got cheated when it came to the money. Nicole had been holding on to Sean for years. It wasn’t healthy, it was destroying both of them. Yet, they had just been so right for each other…something inside Nicole felt that if the whole concept of “true love” even existed (which she severely doubted) Sean would have been hers. She would always love him, like a drug addiction, but finally got the drive to go cold turkey. She was the one who ended it for good. After forgiving him for cheating on her, and attempting to start things up again after three months, they got into another fight. Nicole was just tired of it and knew it couldn’t go on. Sean didn’t believe that she was serious when she said it was over for good, but it was. Nicole quit her job and moved to another corporation who had offered her a position. She stayed away from him for good. By then Serena had become so detached of Sean that she really just only wished him gone to end the fighting. Serena did not mourn the loss of her step dad.
Nicole’s new job was a lot more demanding of her than her previous one. Making more money than she had before, more time was expected of her. This was good for Serena, who liked the freedoms she had when her mother wasn’t around. You see, when Nicole was home, her word was law. She was to be given your undivided attention, and required it frequently. If you were “disrespectful”, she’d discipline your hard. Serena was always afraid of making her mother angry, and when her mother was home she felt stressed. Nicole really loved her daughter with all her heart, and would to anything to protect her, but tragically, could not let go of her past. She was controlling, strong-willed, and often times overbearing. So with her mother gone, Serena wasn’t so timid and could actually teleport around the house. This also helped increase her level of happiness and confidence. Serena grew to be a very popular girl at her school, with plenty of friends. Serena loved socializing and loved the person she could be when she was around her peers. It gave her more freedom to be the kind of person she wanted to be whereas when she was with her mom she was subject to her rule.
Nicole did well in her new career, even if it demanded a lot of time. After three years of working with them, she met Robert Naylor, a recently hired employee of the company. He was a lot lower on the chain than Nicole, but it didn’t matter (truth be told, she liked it that way) and he wasn’t anything like Sean. His wife had left him for another man, and he was just finally getting back in the dating field. He was considerate, intelligent, and respectful. And he wanted to take things slow. At the time, Nicole didn’t think she could ask for more in a man, and they started dating. She took time to introduce him to her daughter, and get to know his son. She liked the refreshing, healthy contrast from her ex-husband, and found herself falling for him. Serena already faintly knew his son, Landon, from school, as he was a year older than her. Since Serena was fairly popular, he also knew things about her. They got along fairly well. But things got weird as their parents got closer. Robert was spending a lot of time at the Claremont-Elwood home, which Serena didn’t particularly like that although she approved of Robert. But when Landon caught Serena teleporting, she entered a silent sate of panic. She tried to cute herself off completely from Landon, but sure enough he kept visiting their home along with his father. She knew that he was watching her, and tried desperately to avoid him and convince him that he had just imagined it. But Landon was relentless. He even watched her at school, which made her very uncomfortable. He started asking questions about her, which was embarrassing. She just couldn’t stop him.
And just when she thought that things couldn’t get worse, their parents sat them down and told them they were going to get married. Landon went ballistic, although he tired to maintain his composure on the scene. Later Serena heard from her mother that Landon had told his dad there was something particularly wrong with Serena…so, of course, Serena was drilled hard from her mother. She was too scared to confess. She’d been keeping her secret since she was alive. She was terrified of what her mother would do. So, with a refusal to acknowledge something was wrong, Nicole tramped down hard on Serena. She was grounded. She couldn’t leave her room. She lost her cell phone and everything else. She was yelled at almost every other hour. And, of course, Nicole made calls to Serena’s friends and started asking questions. Serena was humiliated. One night, after her mother’s yelling had finally beaten her down, Serena confessed and revealed her power to her mother.
Nicole was shocked. Hurt. Terrified for the welfare of her daughter. She’d tried to protect her since she was born and she hadn’t even been able to pick up on it? To Nicole, it was all just a huge, out of control problem which needed to be monitored, ceased, and controlled; quickly for the sake of her daughter. She became a fierce mother bear, ready to kill the problem and dispose of it. She also took up the role of monitoring her daughter’s every move and putting her on a tight schedule. She even forced her to use a tracing GPG system. Serena was to wake up, go to school, and then come home. She was not to visit anyone without getting permission, first. She was not to use her phone, except for a new one her mother bought for her that only allowed her to contact Nicole, Ben, and Robert, along with 911, of course. And for certain, she was never to teleport again. Nicole even wanted to pull Serena out of school, but Serena was barely able to plead her case against that saying that it would increase suspicions and delay her graduation. But even with that, her new lifestyle was a prison.
While she smiled at school, inwardly she was dying. Only one person noticed this; Landon. He approached her one day, between classes, asking what she had been so busy doing. “Nothing,” was Serena’s distressed answer. Landon then informed her that Robert had been trying to schedule a day when he could come visit but Nicole had said that the both of them were very busy. Almost late for class Serena told him she would talk to him later, if she could. After school Serena phoned her Nicole to see if she could possibly visit Landon. Hesitantly Nicole said yes…
Serena showed up on Landon’s doorstep unexpectedly, quickly ushering him into the house. Before she spoke, she made him promise not to tell anyone, including his dad, what she was about to reveal to him. He agreed. And then she explained everything to him…how her powers had started, living with her mother, etc. After that Landon and Serena were closer than ever. Robert was glad to see the two bonding, and his eager attitude helped convince Nicole to allow her more visits to see him. She even added Landon to the accepted telephone numbers Serena could call. Yet still, Serena was being strangled. She was suffering immensely. And Landon knew he had to help her the best he could.
It was a quite Tuesday morning, and Serena quickly prepared to leave for school. The earlier she got there, the better, she could get in more social interaction before the bell rang. But her Nicole stopped her. She slowly, but firmly, informed Serena that she would be moving; attending a boarding school academy in St. Louis, Missouri. A distraught Serena then left for school, and arrived after shedding a few tears while driving. Meanwhile, Landon had been waiting for her. When he saw her arrive at school he quickly approached her and told her that the whole thing had been his idea and handed her a pamphlet. He said it was just like a normal high school, not an institute. She’d be able to use her powers there, just like how she did before, but she wouldn’t have to hide herself. After discussing it a few minutes with Landon Serena realized just exactly how much good Landon had done for her. And although she didn’t want to leave her friends behind, she was actually excited to enter her new school.

This was the hardest part. Walking. Taking long steps to walk twelve blocks; trying to extend your legs quickly enough that you don’t waste time. Why did it feel like it was taking forever? People did this all the time and they didn’t complain. But of course, this was Serena Elwood, who wasn’t used to walking such distances. She had alternative means. But that was out of the question now. Teleporting was now against the rules, her mom had seen to that. She couldn’t even sneak it because of the GPS system in her bag. She simply had to walk, which took longer than she would have thought. She definitely did not give people enough credit for how fast they got places. For walking to her, felt like an eternity.
But Serena quickly reminded herself how lucky she was to even have been cleared a visit to see Landon. Her mom had a strict policy: wake up, go to school, and come home. And no leaving the house on the weekends. To a free spirit like Serena, it was very difficult to work with. But what choice did she have? Part of her wondered how long she would be able to endure it…but she didn’t allow herself to think about that for awhile. At least she was on her way to see someone now…although she didn’t know exactly how it would turn out. Landon was the one who had discovered her secret. He was the one who had found her out. Yet she’d refused to acknowledge it. It was Landon who had told his dad that something was wrong with Serena, and then his dad passed the information onto her mom. If it wasn’t for Landon, she probably wouldn’t be in this situation with the rigid schedule. However, Serena couldn’t blame him. If she had only told him the truth and not refused to keep him in the dark none of this would have happened. So now, she figured she at least owed him an explaination.
So, here she was, actually walking twelve blocks to visit a guy who may actually reject her. But Serena did not think so. Out of all the people at her school, her friends, everyone, only Landon had noticed something was wrong. Sure, maybe he already had an idea, but he’d actually taken the initiative to see if she was okay. Something inside her told her that it would be okay…but she had to come clean. Finally, after all these years…she was going to tell someone everything. The idea seemed stressful, sure enough, it made her nervous, yet at the same time she felt relief. She knew he wouldn’t react the same way as her mom did. Even if he wanted nothing to do with her, at least he’d listen. And that, in itself, was worth taking the risk.
